Let's say you want to be able to view your Google Calendar inside Salesforce. There are two ways to do it, both of which are easy. You can sync your Google Calendar with your Salesforce calendar using Cirrus Insight. And you can also embed your Google Calendar in your Salesforce Homepage, which we'll cover step-by-step below.
How to Sync Your Google Calendar with Your Salesforce Calendar
Syncing your cloud calendars with Cirrus Insight's Calendar Sync feature has a number of advantages:
- Google Calendar events sync to Salesforce and are related to the relevant leads and contacts. That way, you can keep track of your meetings with prospects and customers.
- Salesforce events sync to your Google Calendar. That way, you can see all your appointments in your daily calendar. Plus, all your events easily sync from Google Calendar to your iPhone, iPad, Android, and other phones and tablets.
- Changes you make to events in Google Calendar or in Salesforce are automatically synced between calendars so you don't have to worry about checking two calendars all the time.
Turning on calendar sync in Cirrus Insight takes just seconds. Simply check a box and you'll start syncing.
First, install Cirrus Insight. Then follow our quick start guide for calendar sync.
How to Embed Your Google Calendar in Salesforce
If you want to view your Google Calendar inside Salesforce, that's easy, too. Here's a step-by-step guide for embedding your Google Calendar in your Salesforce Homepage inside an iframe. Note: There isn't any syncing here, just a view of your Google Calendar inside Salesforce.
- In Google Calendar, you'll see a list of calendars on the left. Click the down-arrow next to the calendar you want to embed, and select Calendar settings.
- Select and copy the iframe code displayed in the Embed This Calendar section. NOTE: If you'd like to customize your embedded calendar, click the Customize the color, size, and other options link above the iframe field to access the Google Embeddable Calendar Helper. Here, you can choose to embed multiple calendars by selecting the checkbox next to each calendar.
- In Salesforce, click Your Name in the top navigation and select Setup.
- On the left side of the page under App Setup, click Customize, then click Home, and select Home Page Components. In the Custom Components area, click the New button.
- You may see a screen called Understanding Homepage Components. You can click Next.
- In Step 1, you'll give your custom component a Name, select HTML area, and click Next.
- In Step 2, select Wide (Right) Column, click the checkbox for Show HTML, paste your Google Calendar iframe code into the HTML form field, and then click Save. You'll then see a preview of your Google Calendar in the form field.
- In the left navigation, click Home Page Layouts. On the Edit Home Layout screen, in the section called Select Wide Components to Show, check the box next to your Custom Component (e.g. My Google Calendar). Click Next.
- In Step 2 of Edit Home Layout, you can order the components and then click Save.
- Now click the Home tab in Salesforce to view your new Home Page with your embedded Google Calendar.
